The weapon locker is where almost all of Jaguar's weapons are stored.  All officers are issued one phaser when they graduate Starfleet Academy and those are kept in officer's quarters.  In an emergency phasers are given out by the officers stationed at the weapons locker.  Even though it is called a locker, it is really a large room filled with different comtainers of weapons.  The expression, weapons locker, comes from earlier ships that only had a small laser weapons locker on their ships.  This part of the ship is heavily guarded and requires a level 5 clearance to gain weapon access.

Phasers

Type 1: The type one phaser is a small hand held phaser. These phasers are normaly used when conspicuous weapons are undesirable. Like most phasers they can be adjusted to many settings including stun, heat, and disruption. They were used more during the first season of The Next Generstion but have since fallen out of favor.

Type 2: The type two phaser is more powerful than the smaller type one phaser. These were formaly called pistol phasers. This phaser actually incorporated the type one phaser into it's design. It's highest setting is 16. Type two phasers also have stun, heat, and distruption.

Type 3: The type three phaser is also known as a phaser rifle. This weapon is used for major confrontaions. This phaser is seen many times on DS9 because of it's powerful bursts. Becuase of it's power it is not used to often.
Type 4: Yes there is a type four phaser! This phaser is not well known and is not used often. It is a large phaser that can be attached to shuttlecraft. The Magellan Shuttle can be equiped with sutch a weapon.
